LIGETI GUITAR

As an innovative guitarist, I explore new guitar sounds and extending the boundaries of the guitar’s language.

During my PhD at the International Guitar Research Centre at the University of Surrey (2018-2023), I developed the Ligeti Guitar, an augmented instrument, which radically extends the guitar’s voicing and harmonic capacities, and offers creative opportunities in various fields.

The Ligeti Guitar features a magnetic fretboard and system of single and double-string magnet capos which press the strings into the fret, enabling rapid transformation of the open strings without re-tuning. This revolutionary technology allows the play of any combination of fretted notes.

This innovative project has been supported by the Altamira Guitar Foundation, the very first Ligeti Guitar is built by Hanson Yao and the fretboard was transformed by Oren Myers.

I am currently working on developing the repertoire of this new instrument by collaborating with composers and arranging music.
